HANCEVILLE – Wallace State volleyball made it two convincing victories in as many days as the Lions breezed by Jeff Davis 25-4, 25-8, 25-3 at Tom Drake Coliseum on Thursday afternoon.
Wallace State (11-7, 5-0 ACCC) once again set the tone with a balanced scoring attack. BreAnna Thompson led the way with 11 kills, Kianna Delaney and Bethany Johnson finished with 10 kills apiece and Olivia Walker added seven.
Freshman Montana Clark, a Piedmont grad, finished with 27 digs and five aces for the Lions, Blaise Brown had a team-high 14 assists and five aces, Kaci Kirk had 11 assists and Taylor Traglia contributed eight.
“We played with a lot of desire and energy as a team. Our effort was very good, and we were very efficient on offense,” said Wallace State coach Randy Daniel, whose teams have won four consecutive ACCC state championships. “I liked our effort and personality on the court. We took steps forward in improving as a team, which is always encouraging.”
Wallace State hosts its annual high school tournament over the weekend before hosting conference rival Gadsden State on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
