Wallace State Concert Band celebrating “The Best of Hollywood: 75 Years of Stage and Screen”
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The sounds of Hollywood will ring through the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre on Tuesday, April 24 when the Wallace State Concert Band presents “The Best of Hollywood: 75 Years of Stage and Screen.”
Jacob Keisler, Director of the Concert Band, said he chose the Hollywood theme to offer something that everyone can relate to. All movies have soundtracks playing in the background to evoke emotion or enhance the story playing out on the screen, Keisler said.
The Concert Band will play a selection of songs from “The Great Gatsby,” “Game’ of Thrones,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Harry Potter,” Chicago” and more.
Through this show, Keisler said listeners will learn about the composers of the songs, such as John Williams, who wrote scores for “Star Wars,” “E.T.” and “Harry Potter.” A narrator will share information about the selections and still images will be shown as the songs play to provide visual cues as to which movies the songs were in.
