Wallace State's women’s golf wins Calhoun Invitational title; WSCC baseball and tennis updates

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s women’s golf team continues to roll this spring. The Lady Lions captured their second tournament title this month, winning the Calhoun Invitational earlier this week.
Wallace State’s Annalee Stephens earned low medalist honors for the second time this season. The sophomore from Jasper was also the ACCC Tournament low medalist last April.
Michaela Bryan, Anna Seahorn and Dalys Mullican each earned All-Tournament honors for the Lady Lions, the defending Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) champions.
Freshman Anna Williams rounded out the championship field for Wallace State.
Wallace State also prevailed at the Northeast Alabama Invitational at the outset of the month.
The Lady Lions compete next at Snead State during the first week of April and are set to host the ACCC Tournament on April 15-17 in Cullman.
Wallace State baseball 
Wallace State baseball notched two more wins on Thursday at Calhoun, winning 4-0 and 11-0, to move to 24-4 overall and 9-1 in ACCC play.
Five Wallace State pitchers combined to blank Calhoun’s bats over 12 innings in the doubleheader sweep.
Garrett Brown, a freshman from James Clemens, started the opener and went seven scoreless innings, yielding five hits and striking out four. Brown moved to 4-1 on the season.
Austin Parker and Heath Olive pitched an inning apiece out of the bullpen with Olive notching his sixth save.
At the plate, Dalton Sinquefield had a pair of hits and scored a run for Wallace State; Kolby Robinson and Brady Sherrill each singled and had an RBI; Conner
Daniel had a single and scored two runs; and Dalton Cobb and Austin Triplett added a single apiece.
In the second game, Wallace State pounded out 13 hits in a five-inning contest.
Heath Haskins went 2-for-2 with a homer and five RBIs and Easton Kirk finished 2-for-4 with a homer, double and three RBIs.
Sinquefield finished with a pair of hits, two RBIs and a stolen base, Robinson had a pair of hits, including a double, and an RBI and Devin Brown had two hits, including a double, and scored a run.
Sherrill added an RBI double and scored two runs for Wallace State, Palmer Ford singled and scored and Austin Triplett added a single.
Sophomore ace Blake Rivera moved to 4-0 on the season with four dominant innings. He struck out eight and allowed only one hit. Jackson Tavel pitched one perfect inning.
Wallace State continues the four-game series at home on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
Wallace State tennis
Wallace State’s tennis teams hit the road for Mississippi during Spring Break. The Lions will play at Meridian, East Mississippi, Copiah Lincoln CC, Mississippi Gulf Coast and Jones County Junior College.
Wallace State’s men and women lost to Shorter University at home on Thursday.
In men’s action, Andrew Bizilia earned a win in singles as did Bizilia and Check Freeman in doubles. Austin Leavins and Evan Johnson also won in doubles.
For the women, Molly Whitlock and Martha Ann Lucas were winners in doubles and Emily Wilson in singles.
Wallace State’s next home match is an April 3 conference showdown vs. Coastal Alabama.
