Wallace State’s Jimmy Hodges, Austin Monk complete Alabama Certified Workforce and Economic Developer program

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Jimmy Hodges, Wallace State’s Dean of Applied Technologies, and Austin Monk, Wallace State’s Director of Workforce Development, participated in the second meeting of the Alabama Certified Workforce and Economic Developer (ACWED) program last week in Montgomery.
The ACWED program, established by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), is a yearlong program that will have monthly meetings designed to provide any individual who is involved in workforce development with the knowledge, skills and abilities to actively participate in workforce and economic development activities in their regions.
Completers of the ACWED program gain an awareness of workforce programs across the state, skills in assessing their community’s workforce needs, a deeper understanding of the world and language of business and industry, knowledge of how to develop solutions to a community’s workforce needs, specialized skills to sell and deliver workforce solutions to clients and a certification validating their achievement.
Hodges and Monk also recently presented about Wallace State’s Applied Technologies programs and Workforce Development initiatives and goals at the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Biscuits and Business event.
Wallace State’s Applied Technologies Division consists of 16 programs, tailored to the employment needs of area businesses and industries.
