Wallace State Alumni Association plans spring trips to Pigeon Forge, Outer Banks and Virginia
The Smoky Mountain Quiltfest will be part of the Spring Fever 2019 trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., in March 2019.
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Alumni Association is offering two trips celebrating Spring, with a three-day trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and an 8-day trip to Virginia and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
The Spring Fever Tour to Pigeon Forge will be March 19-21, 2019, and includes a jam-packed itinerary featuring the Smoky Mountain Quiltfest as well as shopping opportunities, entertainment and more.

Along with the Quiltfest, travelers will enjoy the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show, Smoky Mountain Opry and dinner at Bull Fish Grill. Shopping opportunities include visits to Cherry Pit Quilt Shop and Tanger Outlet in Servierville, The Island in Pigeon Forge, and side trips on the way and back to Lodge Cast Iron Factory Store in South Pittsburg, Tenn., Moore’s Discount Fabric Shop in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mayfield Dairy in Athens, Tenn., and Sweetwater Valley Farms in Sweetwater, Tenn.
“There’s really something for everyone with this trip,” said LaDonna Allen, Alumni Association Coordinator. “Even if you’re not into quilting, you’ll enjoy the artistry of the hundreds of quilts on display. Add in the shopping and entertainment options and it’s a great trip all around.”
The trip ranges in price from $369 to $595 based on occupancy and Alumni Association membership. The package includes motorcoach transportation, two night’s accommodations at the Clarion Inn-Walden’s Landing in Pigeon Forge, admission to all attractions on the itinerary, and baggage handlings, taxes and gratuities.

The Bodie Island Lighthouse is on the agenda for the June 2-9 trip to the Outer Banks and Colonial Virginia.
Colonial America and Outer Banks
The Colonial America and Outer Banks trip June 2-9, 2019, will include an overnight stay in Asheville, N.C., before heading on to Carolla, N.C., and the beachfront Hampton Inn and Suites for a three-night stay that includes wild horse safari to the see the Wild Mustangs of Carolla before a visit to the nearby town of Duck for shopping and lunch. A guided tour of the Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station will follow, along with a visit to the Bodie Island Light House and dinner at Kill Devil Hills.
A visit to the Wright Brothers Museum in Kitty Hawk is on the agenda for the June 2-9 trip to the Outer Banks and Colonial Virginia.
The days following will include visits to the Wright Brothers Museum in Kitty Hawk, a visit to the Elizabeth II, a historic 16th century sailing vessel, Roanoke Island Festival Park, antiquing in Manteo, Ft. Raleigh, Elizabeth Gardens and a Lost Colony Dinner Drama.
From Carolla, the tour will head to Jamestown, Va., for two nights. Activities include a guided tour of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement a visit to Yorktown and another guided tour of areas relevant to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, a guided walk of Colonial Williamsburg and a special tavern dinner.
“I’m especially excited about this trip,” Allen said. “Getting to see wild mustangs and all of the historical elements of the trip would make it a great trip for nature lovers and history buffs.”
The trip ranges from $1,439 to $2,079 depending on occupancy and Alumni Association Membership. Through Nov. 15, anyone registering and paying a deposit for this trip will receive a $50 per person discount.
