Wallace State volleyball’s Lexie Riggins earns NJCAA 2nd-team All-American recognition

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State volleyball’s Lexie Riggins has been named a National Junior College Athletic (NJCAA) Division I 2nd-team All-American.
Riggins, a 5-foot-11 middle hitter from Chelsea, led the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) with a .406 hitting percentage and was third in the league with 428 kills, helping Wallace State win its 10th consecutive ACCC tournament championship and 11th straight regular-season title.
Over her two-year career at Wallace State, Riggins amassed 821 kills and 245 blocks and added a .416 hitting percentage as a freshman. She was a two-time ACCC Tournament MVP, becoming the first Lion to earn the award in consecutive seasons during Wallace State’s 10-year championship march.
Riggins was also named a 1st-team All-ACCC selection for her regular season work, being named the ACCC Player of the Week on two occasions.
Riggins and the Wallace State volleyball sophomore class were a part of 67 wins and two conference championships during their two-year tenure, leading the Lions to a 10th straight NJCAA Division I national championship appearance and a conference-best 19th overall.
Wallace State volleyball has had at least one player recognized as a NJCAA All-American since 2009. Abby Borden was an honorable mention selection in 2017, and Kelsea Bivins and CeCe Hall were 2nd-team selections in 2016 and 2015 respectively. Syretha Pride was a 1st-team selection in 2014. BreAnna Thompson (2014), Kianna Delaney (2013), Erika Baker (2012, 2011), Lesley Bemis (2011), Taulise Dunklin (2010) and Cassie Daniels (2009) were all honorable mention selections.
