Wallace State’s Learning Communities welcomes poet Kate Daniels to campus on Jan. 24

HANCEVILLE, ALA. –  Wallace State’s Learning Communities welcomes poet Kate Daniels to campus on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Burrow Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public!
Daniels, the Edwin Mims Chair of English at Vanderbilt University, is the author of six poetry collections, including “The White Wave,” “The Niobe Poems,” “Four Testimonies,” “A Walk in Victoria’s Secret,” “Two Syllables Describing Addiction,” and the upcoming “In the Months of My Son’s Recovery.”
Daniels was awarded the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize for Poetry after penning “The White Wave,” and she’s also earned honors at the Bunting Fellowship at Harvard; the Guggenheim Fellowship in Poetry; two “Best American Poetry” selections; the Pushcart Prize; and the election to the Fellowship of Southern Writers.
Daniels serves as the Director of Creative Writing at Vanderbilt. She earned a bachelor and master degree of arts in English Literature from the University of Virginia and her MFA from Columbia University’s School of the Arts.
