WSCC athletics: Imari Martin invited to NJCAA All-Star game in July; Robinson named to NFCA All-South Region Team, and more

Wallace State women’s point guard Imari Martin has been selected to play in the NJCAA All-Star game in July in Atlanta.

HANCEVILLE, ALA. — Wallace State’s women’s basketball’s Imari Martin has received an invitation to play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game on July 19-22 in Atlanta.

Martin, a Hazel Green graduate, was one of 40 student-athletes chosen who are entering their sophomore seasons.

Martin was Wallace State’s second-leading scorer last season, averaging 13.9 points per game from the point guard position. She was named an All-Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Region 22 and All-North Division second-team selection after also dishing out 156 assists, which was second in the league.

Wallace State’s women finished with a 24-7 record last season, surpassing the 20-win plateau for the seventh time in eight seasons.

Wallace State softball’s Addie Robinson has registered another individual honor as she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NJCAA Division I All-Region South First Team.

Robinson, who primarily played first base in 2019, finished the season with a .404 average, 12 homers and 80 RBIs, finishing four RBIs short of tying the single-season school record. She added 15 doubles and 41 runs scored.

Robinson was also named the 2019 ACCC/Region 22 Player of the Year.

Baseball’s Easton Kirk was recently named the 2019 ACCC Player of the Year, becoming the fifth Wallace State athlete to earn ACCC POY recognition during the 2018-2019 season.

Kirk, a Piedmont native, won the ACCC Triple Crown during the regular season, leading the conference in all three major offensive categories. He finished the regular season with a .480 average, 18 home runs and 64 RBIs.

Kirk was also named to the ACCC All-Southeastern District team and was the ACCC North Division Player of the Year. Kirk joined Robinson, Tanner King (men’s cross country), Demarkus Lampley (men’s basketball) and Sebastian Arce (men’s tennis) as Wallace State’s ACCC Player of the Years.

Wallace State freshman pitcher Jerry Dale Bowman earned All-Southeastern District Team recognition, was an ACCC Gold Glove recipient and an ACCC All-North Division team selection. Bowman evolved as Wallace State’s ace in 2019, finishing 8-1 with a 2.28 ERA and a pair of saves. He recorded 55 strikeouts and walked only 17 batters in 67 innings pitched.

Michaela Bryan will complete her women’s golf career at Loyola University in New Orleans after two impressive seasons at Wallace State.

Bryan won four individual low medalist titles during her Wallace State career, capping it with the Jeff State Invitational title this past season and earning a spot on the ACCC All-Tournament team. Bryan was the 2018 ACCC Tournament individual championship.

The Lady Wolf Pack compete in the Southern States Conference.

Women’s golf’s Maci Yeager has also found a new home. She’ll compete for Faulkner University beginning in the fall.

Wallace State baseball’s Noah Fondren is headed to the SEC after signing with Mississippi State. Fondren hit .333 with 19 RBIs and a team-high 12 steals for the Lions during the 2019 season. He was second on the team in hits with 44 and added seven doubles.
