Wallace State Flight Technology student Chelsie Sloan earns an additional FLY NOW scholarship through Ninety-Nines, Inc.

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State Flight Technology student Chelsie Sloan has earned another notable scholarship, this time the Amelia Earhart Memorial Foundation “FLY NOW” scholarship through The Ninety-Nines, Inc.
Earlier this year, Sloan, a one-time dual enrollment student who recently graduated Corner High, became the first female student enrolled in Wallace State’s Flight Technology program to be awarded a scholarship from the Ninety-Nines, covering her flight time costs and other fees aside from tuition.  The Fly Now scholarship, recently bestowed upon her, gives student pilots an opportunity to earn up to $3,000 to help complete their pilot certificates or aerial aspirations.
The Ninety-Nines, Inc. is an international organization of women pilots promoting advancement of aviation through education, scholarships and mutual support while honoring its unique history and passion for flying. Earhart was the first president of the organization. As of 2011, the 99’s has awarded more than 550 scholarships to members across the globe in support of prospective women pilots, from student pilots to civilian and military pilots.
Sloan is one of only 17 recipients of the Fly Now scholarship, representing the Alabama Chapter.
Sloan enrolled in Wallace State’s Flight Technology/Aviation program last summer, before she entered her senior year at Corner. Sloan has developed into one of the program’s rising stars ever since, racking up scholarship opportunities, while also praising the benefits of the dual enrollment possibilities open to high school students.
“It’s an amazing opportunity all the way around. I love promoting the dual enrollment program and aviation. I want to do it the best I can,” said Sloan earlier this year.
