Wallace State BASS club to host free Pond Health and Management event on Sept. 19

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – The Wallace State BASS club will be hosting a free Pond Health and Management event on Friday, Sep. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Birmingham-based Alabama Aquarium and Pond Services is coming to campus to help the club determine what fish are currently in the college’s larger pond. Their electrofishing process temporarily stuns fish to allow a pond survey but does not otherwise harm the fish.
Alabama Aquarium is donating their services to the college. A portion of proceeds from their sales of pond supplies and services at the event – everything related to stocking, designing, building, and repairing ponds and feeding fish – will benefit the club. Alabama Aquarium biologists and owners will be available to answer questions related to pond management strategies, water quality, stocking rates, setting size and slot limits, fertilizing ponds, the value of electroshocking, and so on. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
