Wallace State Anglers Ethan Flack, Logan Shaddix Finish 15th at Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship, Capping Off Successful Inaugural Year for College’s BASS Club


HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State anglers Ethan Flack and Logan Shaddix concluded a successful and exciting year for the inaugural Wallace State BASS fishing club with a 15th-place finish at the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series championship, held last weekend at the Chatuge Reservoir in Young Harris, Ga.
Wallace State anglers Ethan Flack, left, and Logan ShaddixWallace State’s fishing duo reeled in seven fish for a combined 19 pounds, 8 ounces. Flack and Shaddix were 15th among 64 teams, placing ahead of duos from the University of Oklahoma, UNA, Florida State and Mississippi State among others.
Flack and Shaddix qualified for the national event by earning a wild card selection at the regional competition at Pickwick Lake in late June.
Television coverage of the Bassmaster College Series will air this month on ESPNU in two parts. The first part will be Sunday, Aug 11, from 11 a.m. to noon and the second part on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the same time slot.

In addition to Flack and Shaddix, Jordan Tuten, Bryant Quattlebaum, Colton Henderson, Greg Dean, Ethan Rose and J.R. Sapp have all fished competitively for the club this year.
“When the fall semester starts, we are looking forward to year two. We’ve got plenty of people coming back, and I’ve already been talking to a lot of people who are interested in hooking on with the club. We are going to grow some more,” said Flack before he departed for the national event.
IMG_0450The primary purpose of the Wallace State BASS Fishing Club is to encourage camaraderie, sportsmanship, integrity, conservation and development of the skills and knowledge needed to be successful anglers by competing with other schools in FLW National Guard College Fishing tournaments and other fishing tournaments on a local and regional basis.
