Wallace State volleyball middle hitter Cidavia Hall named NJCAA Division I Player of the Week

Cidavia Hall completes a kill in a match this season.

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State volleyball sophomore Cidavia Hall has experienced quite a memorable week.
On Monday, the 6-foot-1 middle hitter from Dothan was named the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Player of the Week for third time this season.
Hall garnered national attention on Wednesday as she was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Player of the Week for her efforts beginning on Sept. 23.
Hall finished with 47 kills and 14 blocks combined in Wallace State’s three victories against Southern Union, Lawson State and Wallace Community College-Selma over the last week. She averaged 5.2 kills and 2.7 blocks in those nine sets, helping the Lions improve to 22-4 overall and 10-0 in conference play.
Hall becomes the first Wallace State athlete to earn NJCAA Player of the Week recognition since softball’s Katie Gentle accomplished the feat twice in 2013.
“The last two or three weeks have been great for CeCe (Cidavia). It seems like it just keeps getting better and better for her. I’m happy she’s having so much success. She’s a special player and definitely deserves the recognition she has received,” said Wallace State volleyball coach Randy Daniel, who’s in his ninth season. “It’s also great recognition for our program and the college. She’s the first player I’ve had win this award. It’s huge.”
In addition to being named the NJCAA Player of the Week, Hall verbally committed this week to play volleyball for the University of Alabama next season.
Hall currently leads the NJCAA with a .642 hitting percentage, and she is the ACCC leader in kills (301), kills per set (4.07), blocks (127) and blocks per set (1.72).
“CeCe is super athletic, and it matters a lot to her to be the best player on the court. Her work ethic has always been good. She brings her motor to every practice and every game. When you have a player as athletic as CeCe, all it takes is a little motivation to be great,” Daniel said.
Hall has easily surpassed the kills (157) and blocks (46) totals she collected as a freshman.
With four conference matches remaining, Hall and the Lions are on the verge of wrapping up an eighth consecutive ACCC regular season championship. They’ll also shoot for a seventh straight ACCC tournament title a month from now.
Wallace State also cracked the NJCAA national poll on Wednesday for the first time this season. The Lions are ranked 20th.
Wallace State hits the court again on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when the Lions host Snead State and Wallace-Selma at Tom Drake Coliseum beginning at 6 p.m.
