Rebecca Long crowned 2013 Miss Wallace State
HANCEVILLE, Ala.—Rebecca Long of Hayden was crowned 2013 Miss Wallace State during the Miss Alabama preliminary pageant held Sunday at Wallace State in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre.
For her talent, Long performed a jazz dance routine to “What a Feeling.” Her platform is Locks of Love.Tahauny Cleghorn of Cullman finished first runner up in the competition and was named the talent winner on the strength of her vocal performance, “Not a Day Goes By.” Katherine Anderson of Cullman finished second runner up. Long and Savannah Nichols of Cullman tied to win the fitness/swimsuit competition.
Miss Wallace State 2012 Sara Beth Drake and the recently crowned 2013 Miss North Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Mikaylah Duggans served as mistresses of ceremonies.
The Miss Wallace State Pageant is a preliminary pageant for the Miss America Organization, which provides millions of dollars in scholarship money to contestants throughout the United States. As Miss Wallace State, Long will compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June 2013 at Samford University.
All Miss Wallace State contestants received a cash scholarship. Long will also receive a full tuition and fees scholarship to Wallace State.
