Wallace State’s Student Support Services spring semester group visits Atlanta as part of annual Educational Excursion

HANCEVILLE – Wallace State Community College’s TRiO/Student Support Services program received a history lesson in Atlanta during the group’s annual spring semester Educational Excursion.
The TRiO/SSS group enjoyed a pair of busy days in Atlanta, visiting the High Museum of Art, the Jimmy Carter Museum and Library, the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic District and Bodies: The Exhibition. They also got a Behind the Scenes Tour at the CNN Center and were treated to meals at The Varsity—“The World’s Largest Drive-in,” and the Hard Rock Café.
Students who visited Atlanta on the Atlanta cultural trip were Justin Allen, Shelby Allen, Natile Campbell, Edison Pearce, Eric Powell, Virginia Reed, Katelynn Thomas and Kendra Waters, all of Cullman; Kayla Chambers, Baileyton; Amber Crawford and Christopher Parker, Warrior; Seth Fuller and Amber Wynn, Hartselle; Karen Downs, Arley; Terry Fullenwider, Oneonta; Jami-Lyn Letson and Michelle Williams, Eva; Ariel Partain and Amanda Raney, Vinemont; Brianna Mason and Brandi Pena, Decatur; Harold Meadows and Danielle Waller, Hayden; April Huckeba, Logan; Marcia Northcott, Somerville, Ian Hendricks, Remlap; and Jacqueline Hollis-Walker, Bremen.
Wallace State’s Student Support Services (SSS) is part of the federal TriO program that offers academic assistance to 190 students on campus. The program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.
