Food Truck Grub Fest part of Alumni Association membership drive

HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Students, faculty and local citizens in the Hanceville area on Aug. 26 and 27 will have plenty of chances for a good meal when the Wallace State Community College Alumni Association hosts a Food Truck Grub Fest on the college campus.
As part of its annual membership drive, the association invited several food truck vendors from the area to set up shop on campus. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to visit the food trucks during the two days and enjoy live entertainment.
“The food truck craze is so big right now, we wanted to jump on the band wagon, so to speak, and provide the community with the opportunity to partake of some wonderful food on our campus,” said LaDonna Allen, Alumni Association Coordinator.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, food trucks from Luna’s BBQ, Dewey’s Cajun Shack, Jim ‘n Nick’s BBQ and Old Town Brick Oven Pizza will be parked outside the James C. Bailey Baseball Stadium. On Wednesday, Aug. 27, Old Town Brick Oven Pizza will return and be joined by Johnny’s BBQ. Both will be parked in front of the Student Center.
“All of the vendors will have a $5 special on their menus especially for Alumni Association members,” Allen said. The vendors will also have the regular menu items they normally offer on their trucks.
The trucks will be on campus from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day of the Food Truck Grub Fest. Live entertainment will also be available from The Troupe, a band made up of current and former Wallace State students.
The event is part of the Alumni Association’s annual membership drive, which is open to current and former Wallace State students, as wells as individuals of the general public who may wish to support the college.
Membership is $10 for students, $25 for regular members and $250 for a lifetime membership. Those joining during the membership drive will receive a $5 voucher to use at the food trucks and a membership gift.
Along with knowing you will be helping students through scholarships provided by the Alumni Association, membership benefits include discounts at a number of area businesses, special events and activities for members and discounts on travel, entertainment, tickets, restaurants and more through the Working Advantage program.
