Wallace State Community College hosts Transfer Fair for its students
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Arieunna Wilson recently visited the Transfer Fair at Wallace State Community College with an open mind about where to pursue a civil engineering degree upon transferring.
She left with a handful of potential suitors. Wilson was among the Wallace State students to visit the annual event at the Bailey Center lobby, giving them the opportunity to learn more about the four-year universities and colleges in Alabama and even across state lines.
“The Transfer Fair is very beneficial and important for students like me. You get to see what each college has to offer and what makes them special. It’s all about the best fit for the individual,” said Wilson, a Pinson native, who specified Mississippi State and UAB among those she had talked with the most. “I want to co-op if at all possible, and I’ve learned a lot about that today.”
Student John Matthews, from Gardendale, is enrolled in Wallace State’s Engineering Technology program and also considering pursuing his education further upon graduating from Wallace State.
“This event helps when thinking about transfer options. There are a lot of great colleges that offer engineering,” Matthews said.
Colleges represented at the event were Jacksonville State, Athens State, Troy University, UAB, the University of Alabama, Auburn University, Mississippi State, Auburn University at Montgomery, Huntingdon College, the University of West Alabama, UNA, UAH, Samford University, the University of Montevallo, Birmingham-Southern College, Faulkner University, South Alabama, Spring Hill College and Grand Canyon University.
