Wallace State Dance to host Clara’s Tea Party Nov. 23
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Anyone wishing to have a special outing for the holiday season can do just that with Clara’s Tea Party, a special event being held in conjunction with the Wallace State Community College Dance program’s production of “The Nutcracker Clara’s Dream.”
The college’s Allegro Dance Theatre will stage two shows of the classic ballet Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22 and 23 at 7 p.m., at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. In advance of the Saturday, Nov. 23 performance, they will host Clara’s Tea Party at 4 p.m. in the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.
“We wanted to provide a special experience for area residents to enjoy along with our showing of ‘The Nutcracker,’” said Brooke Desnoës, director of the Wallace State Dance program. “What better way to celebrate the characters in the Kingdom of Sweets that tea party?
“We encourage guests to dress in their tea party attire and join us for a couple of hours of fun, food and fellowship,” Desnoës added. “We will have a meet and greet with the core cast. Guests can join us in learning a little bit of the choreography from the ballet, and we’ll also have some arts and crafts activities.”
Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras to have photos made with the cast members in their costumes. Asking for autographs is welcomed.
Tickets for Clara’s Tea Party are $40 per person and includes the performance with priority seating. Tables seat 10 guests; to ensure that you sit at the same table with friends, please purchase all tickets at the same time. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
