Wallace State Community College’s Ready to Work program awarded $50,000
HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s Ready to Work (RTW) program has received a $50,000 grant from the Alabama Community College System.
Alabama’s Ready to Work (RTW) program is a career pathway for individuals with limited education and employment experience, providing them with entry-level skills required for employment with most businesses and industries in Alabama.
Through the RTW grant, Wallace State can provide free training to its participants.
“Wallace State’s Ready to Work program leads to living-wage jobs,” said Jamie Blackmon, Wallace State’s Center for Career and Workforce Development Director. “Students completing the program and earning 70 percent or higher on the assessments earn the Alabama Certified Worker (ACW) Certificate, the National Career Readiness Certificate and a scholarship for one 3-hour class at Wallace State. These are valuable resources that help adults land fulfilling jobs and increases their earning potential.”
Wallace State’s free RTW classes are offered day, evenings and weekends in Cullman, Blount, Winston, and Morgan Counties.
