Wallace State’s Adult Education program to offer free English, math prep courses beginning in January 2014

HANCEVILLE – Wallace State’s Adult Education Department is adding a college preparation course for the Spring 2014 semester.
Classes start in January and are designed to help students prepare for enrolling in English 101 and Math 100. The courses are free and can be taken any semester prior to enrollment into college-level English or math.
The college prep courses will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. inside the Adult Education lab, located on campus at the Center for Economic and Workforce Development building. Three Adult Ed teachers will rotate in and out of the classroom/lab during those hours in order to assure the instruction is individualized and self-paced.
If a student is scheduled to enroll in MTH 090, MTH 098, ENG 092, ENG 093 or RDG 03 for the spring semester, they can also take the college prep course for free. It will serve as additional instruction for those courses or can be taken outside of those classes as a refresher to prepare for the COMPASS or ACT test.
To register for the courses, sign up at Lions Pride on Nov. 21 or call 256.352.8078 to reserve a seat. For more information about the Wallace State Adult Education program, visit www.wallacestate.edu/programs/adult-education.
